Main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is to elect a parliamentary group leader, deputy and other officials next month.

In an announcement issued on Monday, MDP said that the election –within its parliamentary group- will be held from 4-5pm on July 2nd.

They are to elect a parliamentary group leader, two deputies, a secretary general and deputy, as well as a chief whip and six parliamentary group whips.

Those interested in these positions are to submit applications at the party secretariat, before 4pm on June 30th.

The main ruling party has 65 representatives, out of 87, in parliament.
