Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in capital city Malé.

While the Indian PM's first trip fresh-off his re-election win is to Maldives, he arrived around 3:15pm on Saturday. He was greeted at Velana International Airport by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.

PM Modi was greeted at Republic Square by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

PM Modi will be holding an official meeting with President Solih at 4pm, and will hold a joint press conference.

PM Modi will also be signing six agreements during the visit, and inaugurating two projects.

RaajjeMV understands that PM Modi will be meeting with Vice President Faisal Naseem, Parliament Speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed and Maldives’ political leaders including former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, as well as Adhaalth Party leader and Home Minister Imran Abdulla, before concluding his visit on Sunday and traveling to neighboring Sri Lanka.

He will also be addressing the People's Majlis after Maghrib prayer on Saturday.

President Solih will also host a special banquet in PM Modi's honor.

The government of Maldives will also confer the most honorable title the state has to offer, the Order of Nishan Izzuddeen, "Nishan Izzuddeen Izzathuge Verikan" to PM Modi.
