Maldives government has decided to close off some regions off capital city Malé during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Maldives.

While the roads are being closed off due to security reasons, a chart publicized by authorities show regions marked in red, yellow and orange.

According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), vehicles will not be permitted to park on the roads marked in red from 7pm of Thursday to 12am of Sunday.

The regions marked in yellow are to be closed off to the public while the regions marked in orange are to be made a one-way for vehicles.

A similar chart was publicized that will be effective in capital city's suburban extension Hulhumalé from 6pm, Friday to 10pm, Sunday.

PM Modi is set to address the Maldives parliament during a sitting scheduled for 8 June, Saturday during his first trip abroad since his landslide re-election victory last month. While he is to arrive in the Maldives on June 8, he is to travel to neighboring Sri Lanka the next day.

The parliament had passed to grant PM Modi’s request to give the speech at Parliament during a sitting on 29 May.
