Malé City Council has revealed that vehicles will be permitted on the streets of the Greater Malé Region on the day that follows Eid-Al-Fitr.
Although the council had earlier revealed that vehicles will be prohibited during Eid and the day that follows, the Transport Authority had revealed that vehicles will only be prohibited on the streets on the evening of Eid which falls on Tuesday. Following this, the council had released a statement that reveals that vehicles will be allowed on the streets of the Greater Malé Region on Eid and the day that follows.
The decision to prohibit vehicles on the streets on the evening of Eid was to allow the elderly and children to enjoy the activities of the day freely.
As such, vehicles except those allowed by the Transport Authority will be prohibited from 4pm to 6pm.
Further, the authority revealed that it will be imposing a MVR 750 fine on those who violate this policy
