The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced its decision to place expatriate officials in the region where the Eid-Al-Fitr congregation prayer is to be held this year.
Islamic Ministry of Saturday held a press conference to brief the public on the congregation prayer that is to be held in commemoration of Eid-Al-Fitr by the end of Ramadan.
Malé City Council member Ahmed Niyaz stated that they reached the decision as it is observed that a lot of expatriates take part in the congregation as well.
He added that it will be easier to communicate if they can place expatriates as officials as the congregation takes place.
While it has been seven years since Maldives has been practicing congregation prayer during Eid, this is the first time authorities have made the decision to grant such a decision involving expatriates.
This year, the Eid-Al-Fitr congregation will be held in the turf grounds in Maafannu-ward of the capital city.
