While it has been over six months since the new government came into power, it is yet to appoint a Managing Director to state-run Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), one of the highest income generating companies.

Moosa Solih, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s uncle is currently the acting MD of the company.

Maldives Privatization and Corporatization Board Chairman Mohamed Nizar revealed that they are yet to make an appointment to the post as the President’s Office is yet to send names for the post.

Chief Communications Strategist at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh revealed that the President has not decided on the matter yet and neither has he held official discussions regarding the appointment.

Former MD at MACL, Adil Moosa had resigned from the position on 14 November last year following which then Deputy Chief Information Officer Solih, took over the position.

The Privatization and Corporatization Board appoints senior members to state-run companies after the President’s Office forwards fitting candidates.
