Afterward, she paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Alice Wells, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of State for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Both parties “discussed on further enhancing bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United States,” said the Maldives Mission in New York.

Thilmeeza, also Maldives’ permanent representative to the United Nations, was appointed in April, months after being approved by parliament in December 2018.
Former US ambassador and permanent representative to UN, Ali Naseer Mohamed completed his assignment earlier this month, and had paid a farewell call on UN secretary general António Guterres.
