Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has revealed the origins of the fire that broke out inside Mookai Suites in the capital city, Malé on Tuesday night.

MNDF revealed that the fire was sparked by a bunch of cables. According to employees at Mookai Suites, the issue occurred with the cables on the ground floor of the building.

MNDF received the report of the fire at around 09:34 on Tuesday night, from the sixth floor of the building.

A team from MNDF Fire and Rescue was able to quell the fire by 09:58, revealed MNDF.

The fire caused damages to the cables and the first floor of the building.

MNDF revealed that no injuries were reported.
