Government opens Ameenee Magu parking zone
 
Authorities opened the new parking zones in order to ease traffic in the crowded city

The government has opened the new parking zones near the Ministry of Finance on Ameenee Magu.

The Malé City Council revealed that although the parking zone has been opened, only two-wheeled vehicles will be permitted to park there "for now."

The parking zone has the capacity to accommodate 350 motorcycles.

Upon the opening of the zone, the City Council has even prohibited parking in some regions of the capital city. As such, vehicles will not be allowed to park on the street, from Fen Building to Ghiyaasuddin School.

While two-wheeled vehicles can park there without a fee, a fee is to be taken four-wheeled vehicles. Government is yet to declare an amount that is to be taken.

The purpose of establishing the new parking zone is to provide ease to traffic in the area.

In addition, the government has developed parking zones in Henveiru-ward of the capital city. When people begin using said zone, parking will not be allowed on the streets from the south end of Sosun Magu. City Council also stated that parking will also be prohibited from the north end of Sosun Magu after a parking zone is to be developed in front of Majeediyya School.

Earlier, police revealed that public complaints have increased following a rise in people parking however they want, against the traffic laws.
