Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid arrived in Sri Lanka on Tuesday to meet top government officials.
The Ministry’s Director of Communications Miuvaan Mohamed told RaajjeMV that Minister Shahid is scheduled to meet Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.
Minister Shahid will also meet the Sri Lankan parliament speaker Karu Jayasuriya and opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, Miuvaan said, adding that the Minister will also meet with other Sri Lankan politicians.
Miuvaan said the purpose of the visit is to further develop the relationship between both countries and also discuss Sri Lanka’s recent visa policy change towards Maldivians.
In a tweet after arriving in Sri Lanka, Minister Shahid said that he is confident that the two governments can find solutions to the new change and other issues.
