Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has commended officers of the Maldives Police Service’s drug enforcement unit over a recent operation that led to the seizure over hundred kilograms of drugs.
Police on Monday found 149 kilograms of drugs, said to be heroin and cannabis, buried on an island in the southern Gaafu Dhaalu atoll.

The 72-hour operation further led to the arrest of five individuals.
Police say the drugs had been imported into the Maldives by sea.
