Maldives Police Service (MPS) has urged the public to take precautionary measures and be watchful over their belongings while travelling, owing to the prevailing turbulent weather across the country.
Taking to twitter on Saturday, Police wrote that all sea travelers are advised to be cautious due to choppy sea conditions and strong gusty winds.
This comes at a time torrential rains and thunderstorms have begun prevailing in the Maldives during the past few days.
As such, the Maldives Meteorological Service has predicted heavy rainfall over several regions across the Maldives for the next few days.
In the early hours of Sunday, the department had issued a white alert over the entirety of the country from 2am to 8am.
The department also predicts sea swells in central and southern atolls during high tide times.
Due to heavy rainfall in capital city Malé on Saturday, officers of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) had even drained flood water in several parts of the city.
