MMPRC yet to receive USD 14 mil as debt: MD
 
MMPRC’s case of graft is the biggest embezzlement case recorded in the country’s history thus far

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has revealed that the company is yet to receive USD 14 million from three different companies.

Speaking to media for the first time since the new government was inaugurated, MMPRC’s Managing Director Thoyyib Mohamed revealed that the company has not received USD 14 million from a total of three companies which MMPRC has taken to court.

MMPRC’s case of graft is the biggest embezzlement case recorded in the country’s history thus far.

Thoyyib further revealed that the company had been indebted MVR five million to different companies when he took over the post of the company’s MD but that the debts have been paid off now. He added that he is satisfied with the company proceedings now.

MMPRC MD stated that the company has stopped promoting tourism through it as it believes the company’s name has been soiled. Instead of using the company name to promote tourism, MMPRC is using the slogan, “Maldives, the sunny side of life”, Thoyyib revealed.

RaajjeMV also understands that the company is working to change its name. As such, the company has forwarded possible names to the President’s Office for approval which is yet to come through.
