An 18-year-old who attempted to mug an individual near a ‘Fathaha Sunbuli’ outlet in capital city Malé has been arrested.
The young man was arrested at about 11:30pm on Fareedhee Magu, while police say an accomplice of his had escaped.
The two of them had stopped a motorcycle and attempted to steal ‘large sums of money’ that the passenger was carrying.
Police officers patrolling the area managed to apprehend one of the individuals.
Over 120 cases of theft and mugging have been reported at the Maldives Police Service this year.
