President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed prominent lawyer Mohamed Shaheed Anwar as Chairman of Maldives International Arbitration Center.
With his appointment comes several others including lawyer Hussain Siraj as Vice Chairman and lawyer Safa Shareef as a member of the center.
The center was established after Maldives Arbitration Law came into effect in 2013, and focuses on setting principles and practicing arbitration as well as facilitating it across the country.
This appointment was made as Anwar is fitting for the job having worked in arbitration abroad as well.
The President has the authority to appoint and dismiss members from the Arbitration Center board which comprises of a total of three members.
