Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has revealed that over 500 officers have been stationed across the nation as part of “Operation Blue Tide” being carried out to maintain national safety and security throughout the election day.
Hameed revealed that officers were fully trained for the operation to ensure a safe and smooth election day and post-election period.
All officers were trained about the electoral procedure, regulations that need to be followed and they were also familiarized with the election guidelines.

Commissioner Hameed also said that alongside the “Operation Blue Tide” officers, 1,200 more officers will be actively maintaining peace over the capital city Malé and throughout outlying atolls.
Further, he added his hopes that the election procedures will proceed smoothly with complete security.
While voting began for the parliamentary elections 2019 on Saturday morning, there were no major issues noted and voting proceeds smoothly throughout the nation.
