President pledges to resolve housing issue in various islands
Lack of shelter has become a nation-wide issue

Stressing that the most worrying issue that weighs the people down is the lack of housing, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to solve the issue of housing for residents across Baa, Noonu and Lhaviyani atolls.

Having arrived in Henbadhoo island to participate in the campaign event for Ahmed Eesa, ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s candidate for Kendhikulhudhoo constituency, President Solih told the residents that his government is working tirelessly to implement their land-use plan in order to issue plots of land for housing in the outlying atolls.

“The most worrying issue at hand is housing. MDP’s first administration reclaimed land for their housing scheme. It remains in a standstill. We are now working to implement the land-use plan and to bring the required changes to begin issuing plots of land for the people. As such, there are some reclaimed plots of land in Eydhafushi, Velidhoo and Hinnavaru islands. We will begin issuing plots of land to the people as soon as possible” said Solih.

President Solih also pledged to provide basic necessities and amenities to the outlying atolls overlooking population size of the islands.

Urging the people to cast their votes mindfully in the parliamentary elections scheduled to take place on Saturday, President Solih requested the people to elect members who will work for justice to the 19th tenure of Parliament.
