The Elections Commission of the Maldives has concluded all preparations for the Parliamentary Elections, scheduled for Saturday.
At a press conference on Thursday, Elections Commissioner Ahmed Shareef confirmed to press that all preparations at polling stations as well as the elections center have been completed.
“The only thing left is voting, counting votes and publicizing results” said Shareef.
While the elections have been set to begin early Saturday, voting will take place from 8am to 4pm, EC earlier revealed.
Voting is to commence abroad at during the given times:
Voting in India will commence from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm,
Voting in Sri Lanka will commence from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm,
Voting in Malaysia will commence from 11 am to 7 pm and
Voting in the United Kingdom will commence from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
Although the commission will not be announcing results of ballot boxes respectively, results will be made available through the commission’s website.
8,631 result sheets will be uploaded to the commission’s website.
EC also revealed that the temporary results will be put up at the polling stations.
501 ballot boxes will be stationed across the nation and abroad for the year’s parliamentary elections and 264،589 are eligible to vote for the 19th Parliament.
