The Maldives Police Service (MPS) is investigating the case of a motorcyclist carrying a child in the front basket of his vehicle.

MPS in a statement on Wednesday condemned the act, and said that such endangerment of a child is entirely unacceptable.

Footage of the child being carried in the front basket of the motorcycle has been posted on social media.

In its statement on Wednesday, MPS said that the motorcyclist is a police officer and that the matter is now being overseen by the Police Professional Standards Command.

The police says they will be revoking his road license and that their Traffic Unit will be investigating the matter further as well.
