President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made many pledges for the island communities in Haa Alif atoll as part of his current tour across Thiladhunmathi.
President Solih has pledged to develop a resort near Kelaa island, and develop the tourism industry in Filladhoo island.
Arriving in Filladhoo island as part of his Thiladhunmathi tour to join campaign events of parliamentary candidates fielded by the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), President Solih assured the island residents that there will not be a single island without basic necessities such as clean water supply and sewerage systems by the time his five-year tenure comes to an end.
Highlighting that Maldives required “island-like” progress, President Solih said that this can only be reached after granting island councils the authority they require. President Solih emphasized that councilors are the ones who will understand their island community better.
He went on to stress the importance of giving the ruling party majority in order for him to fulfill his pledges.
Urging the community to cast their votes for Ibrahim Shareef, fielded by MDP for Kelaa constituency, President Solih said that Shareef is someone who has his full trust.
“Shareef is someone who worked for justice, he pushed resiliently through difficult times during the past seven years and helped us a lot. I have full trust in him. I urge you all to help elect him to Parliament,” said President Solih.
President Solih concluded his tour across Thiladhunmathi atoll on Monday and returned to capital city Malé.
