President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is scheduled to inaugurate the new “Center for Mental Health Department” established in Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Monday.
IGMH Public Relations Officer Abdulla Mumeeth revealed that opening a department specialized for mental wellbeing was included in President Solih’s first-100-day agenda.
Further, he said that the details and information regarding the services to be made available at the center will be provided during the inauguration ceremony to be held on Monday.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled at 8:30 am on Monday.
Establishing a center for mental wellbeing, expanding the services and facilities provided for mental illnesses as well as making said services easily accessible through state health insurance scheme “Aasandha” is part of President Solih’s presidential pledges.
While the commencement of services at the center for mental wellbeing will pave way for progress in the country's health sector, President Solih had earlier reiterated the ruling government coalition’s high priority to maintain citizens' good health and wellbeing, going on to state that required amendments will be brought to the health facilities across the nation.
