Officers control fire in capital
Reports have it that this was a deliberate arson attack

A fire broke out in the Maafannu-ward of capital city Malé on Saturday evening.

Authorities revealed that the fire incident occurred in capital city Malé on Saturday evening and it was reported to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) at around 6:57pm.

The fire broke out near the “Ekuveni” tennis court, destroying the turf pads under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.

MNDF had dispatched officers to the area and were were able to get the fire under control by 7:15pm. They were able to extinguish the fire within 45 minutes with the help of officers of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Officers experienced difficulty in controlling the fire as the items that had caught the fire, were of rubber.

No injuries have been reported in relation to the fire, thus far, revealed MNDF.

Reports have it that this was a deliberate arson attack by a group, yet unidentified. Police have not confirmed this matter to RaajjeMV.
