Council members of Vaadhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll have on Thursday briefed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on various issues and concerns faced by the island community.
During discussions held at the President’s Office, council members had stressed on the need for better waste management as well as obstructions to agricultural activities due to an increasing number of rodents.
Highlighting that a solution is yet to be reached to the issue of flooding, council members also emphasized on the importance of preserving certain historical and cultural sites in the island.
Giving the councilors his assurance that he will be taking all noted concerns into positive consideration, President Solih stated that he will be holding discussions with the ministries in order to tackle the issues at hand.
At the meeting, President Solih also reiterated his priority in ensuring development reaches every island in the country, going on to highlight that his government is committed to support Maldivian farmers and ensure food sufficiency is reached.
