A 36-year-old man has been arrested at the Velana International Airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit narcotics into the Maldives.
The man was apprehended by the Maldives Police Service on 19th March, and was found with two rubber packets containing what the police attest to be narcotics.
Police say they arrested the man on intelligence information they had received and that they are further investigating the matter.
Police also arrested a man in Kaashidhoo island
While the man was arrested at about 10:44am on Tuesday, another man also of the age 36 was arrested in Kaashidhoo island of Kaafu atoll on the same day.
Police found a rubber packet containing what they believe to be an illicit drug.
