Council members of Dhevvadhoo island have briefed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih with the various development goals for the island community.
Some of the discussions held by the council members and President at the President’s Office on Wednesday afternoon include requirements, concerns and priorities of the island community along with many of the development projects the council has proposed for the benefit of their residents.
As such, council members stressed on the lack of adequate water and proper sanitation systems that has become a major issue for the community.
Further, the council noted that the residents require a water treatment plant, as well as a sanitation system.
Highlighting that the community is faced with occasional power cuts, council members reiterated the residents' request to improve ferry services, improve policing as well as to establish more sports and recreational facilities to the youth community.
Following this, President Solih had assured the council members that his government highly prioritized to ensure development reaches all islands of the nation. He further stated that all islands will be provided with quality infrastructure and facilities that will meet the requirements of the residents.
President Solih assured the council members that necessary action will be taken after discussions are held with the ministries to address the issues at hand.
