A state housing project for capital city Malé will begin soon, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.
President Solih said this while speaking at a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) event on Monday night.
In his address on Monday, Solih highlighted that the government has already pledged to provide housing for residents of Malé who do not have it.
Further, he said that the government intends to ease the congestion in Malé, which is one of the most densely populated cities in the world.
At the event, Solih said he has met with individual families and personally witnessed the conditions in which they live.
No further details of the project has yet been announced, although at Monday’s event, President Solih encouraged voters to support candidates from MDP.
