Public toilets across the capital city are in disrepair and unfit for use, Malé City Mayor Shifa Mohamed has said.
Mayor Shifa told RaajjeTV on Friday that Malé is visited by tourists on a daily basis, and that it is imperative that such public services are made available.
Shifa said that repairing and rebuilding public toilets, some of which are operated by the private sector, will go a long way in improving the experience of tourists visiting the capital.
The council has previously said that such utilities will be installed at the Fishermen's Park area in Henveiru ward, where tourists from cruise vessels often dock.
