The Ambassador of the United States of America to the Maldives, Alaina Teplitz and Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid have discussed ways to further reinforce the existing collaboration between the Maldives and United States in multiple areas of mutual benefit.
During a courtesy call paid on FM Shahid by Ambassador Teplitz at the Ministry building on Tuesday, FM Shahid had conveyed gratitude on the government’s behalf, for the US government’s continued hard work and assistance provided to the Maldivian government and people.
FM Shahid went on to assure his commitment to increase the existing cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual benefit.
During the meeting, the US Ambassador had briefed FM Shahid on US-led initiatives in the country in areas such as aviation security cooperation, public financial management and support towards institutional reform.
FM Shahid was accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shiuneen Rasheed and Thilmeeza Hussain who is nominated as the Ambassador of Maldives to the US.
