President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday officially re-opened the Drug Rehabilitation Center in Addu City's Hithadhoo after renovation.
After the opening ceremony, the President met with the employees at the center and inquired on the services provided at the facility.
After touring the facility, President Solih said that a huge percent of the city’s population has fallen victim to drugs and that his government is committed to helping drug addicts re-join society after rehabilitation.
While the name of the center had been modified, President Solih pledged to develop the biggest rehabilitation center in the island within the next five years.
President Solih concluded his visit to Addu City and returned to the capital city on Saturday night.
