RaajjeTV publicizes procedure on allocating on-air time for candidates
Three packages are included

Private broadcaster Raajje Television has publicized its procedure on allocating and selling on-air time to candidates contesting in the upcoming Parliamentary Election.

The procedure, publicized on Wednesday, follows the Elections Act and ways mandated by the Maldives Broadcasting Commission and states that on-air time will be sold in a manner that does not clash with the station’s news bulletin timings and overall schedule.

In addition, candidates and all parties who wish to broadcast their content via RaajjeTV are required to hand in the content format seven days prior to the day it is to be broadcasted. If, however, the station decides on now airing the content, the party will be informed.

All parties are to take full responsibility for the content they wish to air.

While there are three packages allocated under offering on-air time for candidates, the first one comes with a price of MVR 125,000 and is titled “Rayyithunge Package” which translates to “People’s Package”.

The second package, “Riyaasath Package” or “Leadership Package” comes with a price of MVR 95,000 and the third, “Barulamaanu Package” comes with a price tag of MVR 65,000.

The policy under which the content may be aired is publicized in the procedure which also states that equal opportunity for candidates will be given in air time.
