The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has on Wednesday inaugurated an ‘island fire response team’ in Mathiveri island of Alif Alif atoll.
Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi had conferred certificates for members of the team, after a nine-day fire fighter training programme was held there, which began on the February 25th.
At Wednesday’s event, officers demonstrated there skill through a real-time fire drill; the MNDF, through these programmes, teach participants to identify origins of fires, operate fire extinguishing instruments, and ensure they meet physical fitness standards.
Military chief Major General Abdulla Shamaal, counter-terrorism director Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor, and Malé Area Commander Colonel Abdul Ghafoor participated in Wednesday’s event.
