The Ministry of Economy and Trade has authorised three cafés operating in capital city Malé to provide 24-hour service.
This follows the government’s decision to repeal the policy requiring all cafés and restaurants to close by midnight, and for shops and retailers to close by 10pm.
The ministry approved three of total six businesses that have applied to provide 24-hour businesses after review and inspection of the businesses.
The government has not revealed the status of the remaining businesses, although all cafés operating on larger roads in the capital city are eligible.
The businesses currently authorised by the ministry are: The Sea House at the Hulhumalé Terminal, Saffron Café on Sosun Magu, and Nice n Spice at the West Harbour Food Court.
