Maldives Minister of Health, Abdulla Ameen has participated in the 4th Global Ministerial Patient Safety Summit conducted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The global event, bringing together health minister from more than 50 countries, is being held from 2nd to 3rd March and focuses on defining define strategies that will support the integration of patient safety as an essential element in achieving universal health coverage.

Also, it focuses on raising awareness and fostering contextual applicability, increasing public participation in ensuring safety and security of patients, to further strengthen work carried out globally to protect the rights of patients and to discuss areas that need further cooperation.

The Ministry of Health reveals that Minister Ameen will be addressing the summit which will be joined by 31 health ministries across 49 countries, seniors from the World Health Organization (WHO) and seniors from cooperative associations.

The summit will also see discussions into signing the “Jeddah Declaration on Patient Safety” throughout the summit.

Minister Ameen will also be meeting with WHO’s Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the sidelines of the summit, alongside seniors of health associations across the globe.
