A senior delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has arrived in the Maldives on Wednesday.
The delegation is led by the Deputy Minister of the Kingdom’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Al Samel, revealed the Maldives Islamic Ministry.
It was received by Minister of Islamic Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and senior officials of the ministry.
The objective of the visit is to further strengthen the ties between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, to organize awareness programs to instill Islamic values in the heart of the people, to discuss mosque development projects and to save the Maldives from religious extremism.

In addition, the delegation will be seeking out the different challenges arising for Islam in the Maldives so as to reach a resolution to battle the issues at hand.
The Saudi delegation and the government of Maldives had also signed agreements on future projects.
The signing ceremony was joined by the Maldives Minister of Islamic Affairs and senior officials at the Ministry.
The delegation is set to conclude its trip to Maldives and return to Saudi Kingdom on the 3rd of March.
Deputy Minister Al Samel also delivered a special lecture at the Masjid Al-Sultan Muhammadh Thakurufanu Al-Auzam following maghrib prayer on Thursday.
