Vice President Faisal Naseem has on Wednesday visited some islands and their councils in Kaafu atolls.
As such, VP Naseem toured Huraa island, Gaafaru and Kaashidhoo islands on his Kaafu atoll tour.
While the VP met island councils, they had shared progress on their respective developmental projects and ones planned for the future, as well as the concerns raised by the island residents.
Some of the issues noted by island residents include shortage of space in the school, issues arising due to lack of space in the island harbor, as well as the lack of banking services in Huraa island.
Council members also noted that some basic necessities are lacking in Kaashidhoo island.
Some concerning issues noted by Gaafaru council include shortage of land for residents and lack of a proper water and sewerage system.
Having listened to their concerns, Vice President Naseem assured the island councils that the government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is working hard to address the issues at hand and bring adequate solutions.
During the visits, the VP had toured the islands' schools and health centers where he met with employees and inquired on the current situation and challenges being faced at these institutions.
