Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has requested Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah to fast-track visa procedures for Maldivians.
The two met in Geneva on the sidelines of the 40th Session of the Human Rights Council.
During their meeting, they also discussed further developing the close relations between Maldives and Malaysia.
Minister Shahid also congratulated Malaysia for its return to democracy after the election of the new Prime Minister and said that it had encouraged the people of Maldives.

Also in Geneva, Minister Shahid Met David Zalkaliani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and discussed further cooperation in areas of health, education, and tourism.
He also met with Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, and discussed ways of further strengthening cooperation bilaterally, and on the global stage.
He then met with Ciarán Cannon, Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development of Ireland, and discussed ways of cooperating on climate change and SIDS issues.
After concluding his trip to Geneva, Minister Shahid is scheduled to travel to Dubai for the OIC's Council of Foreign Ministers.
