Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) has given ticket to eight candidates to represent them in the Parliamentary Election.

At a council meeting held on Monday night, the party conferred tickets to current Dhaalu Meedhoo MP and party leader Ahmed Shiyam, Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir and Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ali Mauroof.

Other candidates who were given tickets are Aishath Rafiyya for west-Maafannu constituency, Ibrahim Aslam for Manadhoo constituency, Mohamed Adam for Dhuvaafaru constituency, Hussain Saalim Mohamed for Holhudhoo constituency and Mohamed Abbas for Velidhoo constituency.

The party, having created a coalition with some other political parties, had won most seats during the 18the parliamentary election. However, MDA is not seen campaigning within a coalition for this year’s election.

The party has also not yet revealed how many constituencies it will be running for this year.

Some of the MPs who were elected through MDA have left the party, and three members now remain in the party.
