Shimaz Ali has been appointed deputy minister to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed the Seenu Hulhudhoo native on Sunday.

Shimaz is a sports journalist and analyst who has participated Commonwealth media development workshop.

He was previously the programme officer at the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture.

He had also worked as the media officer of the Maldives Football Association.
