Following the commencement of the Chinese New Year, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Tuesday sent his felicitations to the Chinese President, Xi Jinping and the Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang.
While the people of China mark the day on the 5th of February on the traditional Chinese calendar, President Solih extended his greetings on behalf of his government and people, to the friendly people and the government of China on the joyous occasion.
President Solih also expressed wishes for the country’s peace, progress and prosperity in his message.
Earlier in January, President Solih had expressed interest to build the existing strong foundation of fruitful bilateral ties between Maldives and China during his term as President. The past administration of Abdulla Yameen had also held keen friendship with the government of China, with the governments having signed several development projects in the Maldives.
