Two more suspects have been arrested regarding the multiple break-ins and robberies of government institutions in Maakurathu island of Raa atoll.

Arrested were a 38-year-old man and a 34-year-old man. With these arrests the total number of arrested suspects amount to six.

Both were arrested under a court order on Saturday evening.

Maakurathu health center was broken into and the safe was stolen among cash from other offices the suspects had broken into, is missing as well. The safe in the health center had a total of MVR 15,000.

The island council’s safe was robbed, the amount totaling MVR 40,000.

The robbery took place on Thursday and all government offices were broken into in the massive robbery.

Two of the previously arrested four are of ages 21 and 19. The other one is aged 62.
