The local government council in Maavah island of Laamu atoll has met with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The council had shared their concerns, obstacles, and wishes with the president and his delegation, which includes president’s office minister Ali Zahir, and Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof. 

Council members had also briefed the president on their ongoing work and potential development projects for the island.

Among them include development of housing projects and medical facilities on the island, as well as increasing job opportunities there.

In this regard, the council had discussed the possibility of building a tourist resort in the atoll.

President Solih travelled to Laamu atoll on Friday to participate in a marathon held there.
