Former vice president Ahmed Adeeb has on Friday morning been brought to capital city Malé for emergency treatment due to a ‘sudden health deterioration’.
The recently established Maldives Third Way Democrats, who elected Adeeb their leader, told RaajjeMV that he suffered dizziness before collapsing.
Yameen Rasheed, deputy leader of the party, also accused the Maldives Correctional Service of gross neglect, claiming their officers kept him in his cell without attending to him after he collapsed.
Photographs of Adeeb at the hospital this morning lend strength to Yameen’s reports as they show significant swelling in his forehead.
Adeeb was transferred to prison while in treatment at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital on 19th January. His family claims he was forcibly transferred and officers refused to show them a letter from the doctor authorizing his discharge.
