President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Wednesday appointed a new member to the commission investigating unresolved deaths and disappearances.
Appointed is Ahmed Nashid, native to capital city Male’.
His appointment follows the resignation of former commission member Abdulla Munaz who handed in his resignation prior to taking up the post of Commissioner of Prisons.
Nashid has several years of work experience in the armed forces and police service. He previously held the position of Head of Investigation on various homicide cases as well.
He has also completed multiple trainings in the field of crime investigation including Advanced Scientific Methods of Crime Investigation Course from the Central Detective School in Hyderabad, India, Interpol National Central Bureau Officers Training in Lyons, France as well as Training on the Koban System of Japan and Neighborhood Police Cost System in Singapore and Japan.
With the exclusion of Nashid, other members in the commission include former Attorney General and prominent lawyer Husnu Al Suood, Adam Ibrahim, Lawyer Fareesha Abdulla and former journalist Misbah Abbas.
