The State Electric Company (STELCO) has said that it intends to have a powerplant and substation set up at the industrial village area in capital city Malé.
STELCO said on Tuesday that it intends to have a 16-megawatt powerplant and a 131-kVA substation, and the project will soon be announced for tender.
The company is accepting no less than MVR 500,000 as bid securities for companies participating in the tender.
While STELCO intends to build another powerplant, the Maldivian government has said that it intends to reduce national carbon emissions.
