Ambassador Latheef has been serving in foreign affairs since 1981 and has filled many positions in government

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed two new Ambassadors to represent Maldives in Sri Lanka and Germany.

Appointed are Ahmed Latheef as Maldives Ambassador to Germany and Umar Abdul Razzaq as Maldives Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

President Solih presented the ambassadors with their letters of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Sunday.

Ambassador Latheef has been serving in foreign affairs since 1981 and has filled many positions in government.

He served as first Maldives Ambassador to China for five years from 2007.

Since President Solih’s inauguration, Ambassador Latheef last served as Director General of Transition.

Ambassador Razzaq has attained a Master’s in Business Administration from Australia’s Edith Cowan University.

He previously served as Minister of State for Home Affairs, Project Monitor at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and as a Shadow Foreign Secretary of the Maldives United Opposition.

He currently works as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Joint Opposition.
