Arrivals from countries with yellow fever will be asked for proof of vaccination

The Maldivian government has announced that all arrivals from countries where the spread of yellow fever has been reported must carry proof of vaccination.

The Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that all individuals arriving in the Maldives from these countries will now be asked for a certificate of inoculation.

The ministry says that individuals without such a certificate will be quarantined for six days and will have their health status screened during this period.

Last week, scientist and cancer expert Professor Martin Gore suffered a total organ failure resulting in his death after vaccination for yellow fever.

His death has caused scrutiny over the safety of using the vaccine.
