Maldives Ambassador-designate to New Delhi, India, Aishath Mohamed Didi and Maldives Vice President Faisal Naseem have discussed areas in which Maldives needs development assistance from India.
These discussions were held on Tuesday during a courtesy call paid on the VP at the President’s Office.
These areas include the building of facilities for persons with special needs as well as increasing number of scholarships for Maldivian students in India.
Congratulating Ambassador Aishath on her appointment, VP Naseem emphasized that her abilities and expertise will prove to be of invaluable assistance in the work to consolidate friendship between both countries.
Other discussions held between the pair include the importance of strengthening the quality of consular services to Maldivian residents in India.
VP Naseem and Ambassador Aishath also discussed increasing the number of Indian tourists in the Maldives, specifically in light of India’s large population.
The pair further discussed the need to strengthen bilateral co-operation between both countries, specifically in tourism, health and gender.
Ambassador Aishath assured VP Naseem that she will make full use of her position to fulfill the policies of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.
