President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Monday presented the Zayed Sustainability Prize to one of the 10 winners at the 11th edition of the award being held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The awarding ceremony was a part of the opening ceremony of Abu Dhabi sustainability Week 2019, which was inaugurated on Monday.
President Solih arrived in UAE on Monday morning, upon the invitation of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of Armed Forces of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The ceremony, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
While Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is the largest gathering of its kind in the Middle-East, it is held annually.
This year’s theme is “Industry Convergence: Accelerating Sustainable Development”.
President Solih is being accompanied by a high-level delegation including Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
Also on Monday, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Maldives and UAE on establishing a joint cooperation committee between both countries.
As part of his visit, President Solih also toured the famed Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
