Maldives government coalition partner Jumhooree Party (JP) has formed a committee to regulate their party’s conduct for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The party’s 126th council assembly made the decision to form the seven-member committee on Sunday night.
This committee will oversee applications to contest for the upcoming elections through the party and will be deciding on which candidates the party is to put forth.
The JP in December last year opened for candidature through the party but said that they will likely not be fielding a candidate for every constituency.
The parliamentary elections are scheduled for April 6th.
