The Malé City Council has on Saturday removed a number of pallets on the roads in capital city Malé.
Wooden and metal pallets are often kept in front of homes and shops in Malé to prevent parking, although this is disallowed.
Officers of the police have been removing some of the pallets and council member Ahmed Zameer told RaajjeMV that they are enforcing the regulation against placing pallets.

Zameer also said that the city council will be removing pallets every Saturday.
While the pallets have often been described as a ‘nuisance’ for pedestrians and those who require parking space, the issue garnered attention this week after a woman broke her leg, having gotten it stuck between planks on a wooden pallet.
